Black and white (monochrome) collector game where you control a beam and with it collect designated objects inside a specific level. The gameplay is ok and somewhat addictive, but the very game is too short and there are the unappealing graphics. Still, the graphics are done black and white on purpose and done well in those limits, so we should respect the designers choice. Objects in the levels are randomized every time you play a new game so the replay value is not that bad. Also, the package includes a level editor. Overall, not enough content for a higher score.
An ok platform game, but with terribly little content and with few notable bugs. The game only contains two easy level and as third level you get a room with "THE END" written in it. It seem like something packed in a hurry while it could have been so much more. Nice graphics and a potential platform engine. Worth being checked, but finishing this game is not a rewarding experience. Minimal Sound Blaster sound effects.
A below average platform game featuring poor controls and poor gameplay (poor code resulting in wooden and clumsy movement). The game features relatively average graphics, nice presentation and amusing design. It doesn't seem to be completely finished, despite the fact that nothing of this is mentioned in the game's readme file. The game comes with minimal Sound Blaster sound effects.
A computer version of a noctorius board game whose title I don't know in English. A turn-based game where you throw a dice and move your peons over the board. Nicely done game in 640*480 graphic resolution. You can play against human and/or computer opponents. The game is on German, but you can play it without knowing German.
A nice hi-res (640*350) game featuring oil collecting. The game objective is to collect all the oil inside a specific level. There is a lot of bonus items you can pick up and an enemy you need to avoid. You can kill that enemy and destroy certain obstacles with a pickaxe you carry. The graphics are in hi-res mode and very nicely done, especially the animations of the characters. On the other hand, levels don't feature any background, only tiles, oil, bonus items and characters. The biggest problem of The Oil Adventure is the gameplay. It's highly doubtful since each level is randomized every time you play it. This includes the number of oil drops you need to pick up, time limit and obstacles, so sometimes it’s simply impossible to finish a certain level. Also, when you finish a level you need to exit it through a door that only appears for a second. You need to be very careful (and lucky) in that moment so you wouldn’t miss the exit location. Not sure if this is a bug. I'm putting a big question mark on this game. The package includes a level editor.
A poor platform game with too many technical imperfections (flickering, poor keyboard handler). The graphics are ok, but too monotonous and the gameplay is so-so. The game features 100 levels, but all easy and all after level 5 are randomized and look very similar.
A Bomberman clone with ok gameplay, but poorly coded. The movement is jerky because the designer used the INKEY$ statement and some annoying bomb to player collision is present. Potential game, but needs a lot more polish. Levels are randomized, but you can create your own. Ok graphics, but very little of it.
A demo of a very cool top down space shooter. It's one of the most impressive looking in QBasic featuring a really cool smart-zooming effect. This demo features only 10 missions and the gameplay feels too fast-paced for my taste. Perhaps the game is meant to be played on slower speed. This demo doesn't feature any music or sound effects. The package includes a mission editor. Recommended for collectors.
A cool 3D aircraft shooter game. The 3D engine is relatively simple and "hacked" in few places, but the very game is rather enjoyable to play. You fly around (using your mouse) over a flat terrain (with few pyramids scattered around) and hunt down other aircrafts. You have two weapons at your disposal, and the game features a nice auto-tracking system. Not much varied content in the game, and no sound or music.
A very poorly designed shooter. It features level-based gameplay, with progressive story and bosses. The gameplay is so-so. An option for two human players simultaneous mode is available. Very poor graphics and very poor coding prevails. You might need a slowdown utility to play this game.
A very poor RPG with terrible graphics, confusing and shallow story (which is a bit funny on some places) and repetitive gameplay. Still, like all turn-based RPGs it has that addictiveness.
A solid Arkanoid clone featuring average graphics and not so great ball-to-paddle physics. The game features ok Sound Blaster sound effects. The gameplay is good, but the game is very easy since powerups are spawn quite often and most of them are very beneficial. 20 levels. Below average level design (with the exception of 2 or 3 levels). A level editor is included in the package.
A fun action/shooting game where you need to save the Earth from invading aliens. Nice gore effects. Sadly, the game is too short and the graphics are average. Single screen levels (no scrolling). Sound Blaster sound effects. Nice gameplay.
A mock-first person shooter (the player is inside a cockpit of a space ship). Very redundant graphics, but a nice interface. Doubtful and buggy gameplay (minus one point). Interesting and rare concept in QBasic games.
A very nice collection of four puzzle games (Lights Out, Overload, Dominate, Connect Four). Nice graphics. Highly recommended if you are looking for coffee break games.
A very poor and stupid action game. You play some guy who barges into a school with a goal to kill everyone. Very poor code, insulting design, horrible controls (INKEY$) and very poor graphics. The game runs too fast on modern PCs.
A very poor RPG with terrible graphics and poor gameplay. Turn-based battles. Stupid story (blood bath in school). The game runs too fast on modern PCs and enemies attack you in real time so you'll need some sort of slowdown utility to be able to play the game. The game displays obvious lack of skill in all aspects, but it looks like a lot of effort was put into it. Still, that’s not enough.
One of the better QBasic Snakes/Nibbles clones. It features average graphics, nice design and two game modes (Snake - no progression, Nibbles - progression with different level maps). No music or sound effects.
If we ignore the stupid title this is a very nice ASCII space shooter, but it doesn't seem to feature any progress (you play it for the score). It features very good Sound Blaster music and sound effects and cool explosion effects.
An average, text-based, role-playing fighting game. The player chooses one of several heroes available and fights his/her way through stages by battling various warriors. The game features a rather limited amount of options, but the interface is well designed. The game also lacks depth and more important, a save game feature since the player can die easily. The battle engine seems to be well developed. No music or sound effects.
A collection of almost entirely worthless and terribly programmed games with one exception, a somewhat fun "trigger" game called Lethal Fighters. Overall, very sloppy stuff.
An interesting and original puzzle/action game. You control an ant who needs to set up a safe path by placing arrows, killing enemies and moving bricks, before releasing the ant princesses who need to reach the level exit without dieing. The graphics are not very good, but having in mind the entire design of the game, story and great gameplay, this is a very nice game. 640*350 graphic resolution.
An average RPG with quite interesting story and very good story development. Very good gameplay, not so great graphics. Tile by tile movement and scrolling. The game lacks walking animations and similar.
A demo of a sequel to ARC Legacy. It features much better graphics and similar gameplay. Despite being a demo it contains "a fair chunk of the story and character development".
A rather poor car driving game with poor physics. Shallow gameplay. The cars move in one direction and you only need to avoid the obstacles. The gameplay doesn't feature progress. Poor graphics. Badly coded menus.
A mediocre adventure game with uneven quality of the graphics. The characters look bad while the tiles look good. No "characters walking" animations. Tile by tile movement and scrolling. Cliché story and confusing dialogues. The game features some RPG elements. Armageddon VII doesn't feature sound or music.
A very good Arkanoid clone. Nice graphics and good physics. The game features 50 levels with special boss levels and a cheats menu inside the game. Sadly, the graphical design is rather poor (too many incoherent colors, too shiny fonts, etc.). A level editor is included in the package. Arqanoid also features PC Speaker sound effects.
An excellent real time strategy game. Dune 2 clone. Very nice graphics and sound effects. Extra download is the music pack (over 3MB) not necessary to run the game.
An excellent Worms remake with very good graphics. In Assault you control tanks, but they can jump(?!) too. Many options, weapons and cool sound effects. The flaws are the lack of AI (computer opponent) and mission mode.
A very poor game where you control a space ship and avoid asteroids. Side scrolling movement. The game is mouse controlled. There is no challenge value in this game what so ever and the graphics are poor. Asteroids also doesn't feature any progress (you play if for the score).
A cool RPG maker also featuring an already made role playing/adventure game about ancient Indians (quite cool). The RPG maker allows you to create any kind of RPG inside the maker's limitations (design of the screen, inventory control and tile by tile movement). It also features a sprites/tiles maker. Battles are real time (not turn based).
An interesting sea war game in vector graphics. The player's objective is to defend his ship from the invading enemy aircrafts. This game features a quite cool vector graphics 3D engine. The player can rotate his ship, but it’s some sort of 3D/2D hybrid game. Sadly, the game is in Spanish so if you don't know it you won't be able (like me) to figure out the entire game mechanics.
An interesting strategy game similar to Dominate. Move your soldiers to invade the enemy territory. Ok graphics. Your opponents can only be computer controlled. No mission mode of any sort in this version.
An excellent QBasic FPS, but it's more a 3D engine than a game. The 3D engine is excellent and the game is fun to play, but it runs in a circle (it takes around 1 hour to finish it) and leaves you disappointed. The wall textures and the enemy sprites in the game are not original.
Alpha release of a brilliant FPS that was never completed in QBasic. It features great textures, sprites and overall graphical design. Close combat weapons (swords, axes). Worth being checked.
A rather poor FPS featuring poor graphics, only 3 levels, and unrewarding gameplay. The game is a respectable QBasic attempt in 3D programming, but quite few much better QB first person shooters exist. The game features very nice auto-map system.
